ADVOCACY
Your Voice Matters. Together, We Can Create Change.
At The Arc of El Paso, advocacy is at the heart of what we do.
We believe people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have the right to be heard, respected, included, and supported in every part of community life. We work alongside individuals with disabilities, families, caregivers, community partners, and local leaders to help create a more accessible and inclusive El Paso.
Advocacy can happen in many ways—from helping a parent understand their child's educational rights to speaking with community leaders about policies that affect people with disabilities.
Our goal is not just to speak for people with disabilities, but to help individuals and families find their own voices, understand their rights, and advocate for the changes that matter to them.
What Is Advocacy?
Advocacy means using your voice to help create positive change.
You can advocate for yourself, for a family member, or alongside others in your community. Advocacy may involve asking questions, requesting services, learning about your rights, sharing your experiences, communicating with decision-makers, or helping improve policies and systems.
You do not have to be an expert to be an advocate.
Your experience matters. Your story matters. Your voice matters.
